The perfect rug can really tie a room together, but the wrong rug can cause it all to fall apart — or, in this case, it can give the appearance of something that definitely doesn't belong in any home.

A woman has shared her hilarious solo shopping fail after she purchased a rug she thought was modern and stylish.

Taylor Brannon, who shares videos at TikTok @mommatay21, thought she'd made a perfect choice when she picked out the light grey and white carpet featuring a brown/bronze pattern.

It was her husband who, after seeing it installed, made an observation that has ruined the rug for them both. He pointed out it looks like "poop was smeared into it" and now Brannon admits she "can't unsee it".

In the video, we see her lying down on the rug along with the caption: "This is what I get for going shopping alone lol".

The text in the video explains: "So I bought this new carpet and my husband says it looks like poop was smeared into it and now I can't unsee it lol."

More than one million people have viewed the video and almost 135,000 of them have commented on the rug pattern, and they can't help but agree with Brannon's husband.

"Not to be mean, but out of all the choices?" questions one.

One TikTok follower can't believe the pattern is real, commenting, "No way that's a real pattern."

"Why would you buy that?!?!" one says, while another writes, "Yeah I think this needs to be returned."

One sympathetic TikTok follower says, "I'm trying to see what you saw before seeing it, cause its all I see."

"I tried to like be on your side," says another. "I'm sorry I can't."

Clearly seeing the funny side of the situation, Brannon joins in on the conversation, commenting, "No I totally agree with my husband it was a waste of money but lesson learned."

A few TikTok followers suggest she dye the rug, one writing, "Get fabric dye and dye it black or brown."
