A US woman who was chastised by a Paris hostel manager for dressing “provocatively” after lodging a sexual harassment complaint against one of his employees has spoken out.
Mariah Nonnemacher, 26, was in the French capital to catch up with a friend from the States who was visiting on an art trip last week.
The London-based Arkansas woman stayed at Enjoy Hostel along with the members of her friend’s art group, who she says were made to feel uncomfortable by a male staff member throughout their stay.
The actor and director told BuzzFeed News the man had stared at members of the group and asked for their phone numbers, and tipped their drinks down the sink when they rejected his advances during their first breakfast in the hostel.
Nonnemacher then had a one-on-one encounter with the employee when she checked out of the hostel.

"It's embarrassing for one, and not that I should have to explain it, but I wasn't wearing anything provocative."
Nonnemacher reported her treatment to the hostel’s manager Paul Benichou via email, who then promised to look into the incident. However, his follow-up left her stunned.
“After investigation, I am really sorry to tell you that … it turns out that you were dressed provocatively with a plunging neckline,” the email, which Nonnemacher shared on Twitter, began.
"What kind of girl are you? ... I am sorry, I can do nothing for you,” it read.
