Sarah Michelle Gellar reckons she's found the key to a happy marriage
Listen up, ladies and gents: Sarah Michelle Gellar reckons she’s locked down the secret to a long and happy marriage.
Now, now, don’t roll your eyes just yet. The Buffy star has been married to fellow actor Freddie Prinze Jr. for 15 years, which is an eternity by Hollywood standards, so she’s probably got some insights.
Speaking to Harry Connick Jr on the singer’s talk show this week, Gellar revealed the key elements that have helped her marriage work.

In a 2014 interview with Esquire magazine, Sir Michael Caine echoed the sentiment.
“You start with two bathrooms. You never share a bathroom with your wife,” he told the publication.
To those of us who live in one-bathroom abodes, that might sound like an impossible luxury.

In that case, retiring to separate beds every now and then might be worth considering.
This might sound dramatic - especially given sleeping separately is often viewed as a sign of relationship trouble - but plenty of loved-up celebrities swear by it.
On his radio show this year, Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli told listeners sleeping separately was vital in his household, given his early working hours.

“There are so many people who would say separate beds are healthy for your relationship,” he said.
“You get your best sleep, so when I’m with the family and we’re together [wife Lisa Wipfli] gets the best of me.”
Guy and Jules Sebastian use the same approach when the singer is on tour, to ensure he gets enough sleep and keeps his voice is in good shape.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. haven’t embraced separate rooms, but the actress admits separating another aspect of their shared lives has merit.
"Maybe, possibly, a separate shopping credit card or if you are a guy, maybe a separate gaming card so I don’t have to see how much video games cost," she quipped.
So there you have it. Perhaps separation is the key to staying together - happily.
