Sarah Ferguson is set to return to the UK within days after spending months abroad, according to PEOPLE.

The former Duchess of York, 66, has largely remained outside Britain lately. She was last publicly spotted in April, when she was staying in the Austrian Alps.

The Sun, which first reported the news, revealed she plans to rent a six-bedroom home in the Home Counties outside London for roughly AUD $11,000 a month.

Her return coincides with several major developments for the royal family.

Ferguson’s return comes weeks after her younger daughter, Princess Eugenie, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, announced the arrival of their third child, daughter Adelaide.

A source told PEOPLE that Ferguson remained in close contact with Eugenie and Princess Beatrice throughout her time abroad.

Both daughters have reportedly sought distance from their parents’ ongoing controversies.

Ferguson had been expected to stay abroad as authorities investigate her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, 66, who was arrested in February.

The arrest followed the release of US Department of Justice documents that brought renewed attention to the former couple’s links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Andrew is accused of sharing confidential information with Epstein while serving as a UK trade envoy. He has not been charged and denies all wrongdoing.

Ferguson has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

King Charles stripped Andrew of his titles and honours in October 2025.

The former couple was subsequently ordered to leave Royal Lodge, the Windsor estate where they had lived together for nearly two decades post-divorce.

Andrew has since relocated to the King’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk, prompting Ferguson to make her own living arrangements.

Her impending move comes just days after Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, returned to Britain with their children.

The family, who touched down in the UK via private jet earlier this week, have returned as private citizens and are not expected to resume royal duties.

Prince Harry is scheduled to attend a number of engagements, including the WellChild Awards in London on September 8, in addition to events leading up to the Invictus Games, which will take place in Birmingham in 2027.

There has also been speculation Meghan will resume her acting career. Their children have been enrolled in local schools.
