'Finally get to marry you this month': Sam Kerr's tribute to fiancee Kristie Mewis as wedding approaches

Sam Kerr is very excited for her upcoming nuptials to Kristie Mewis this month, sharing a tribute on social media.

The 32-year-old posted a number of behind-the-scenes photos from her relationship with fellow football star Mewis, 34, over the last four years on Instagram.

Among them are snaps of the pair at the beach, sightseeing, taking their six-month-old son Jagger out and about, and more.

The caption read, "Finally get to marry you this month ❤️"

The Matildas captain recently spoke about the upcoming nuptials when she made an impromptu appearance on Kristie and her sister Sam's podcast, Mewis Squared.

When Kerr was asked whether her fiancee was being a "bridezilla", she answered diplomatically.

"She's not being a bridezilla," she said carefully.

"It comes from a good place, but I had to have a talk to her this morning and say that everyone is coming to celebrate us and you can't make their experience perfect.

"We're going to offer what we offer and if they don't like it, then they'll organise something else or do something else.

"Like we can't spoon-feed them, they'll all adults.

"Our wedding is going to be amazing but Kristie obviously cares so much about people's experience that she's sacrificing my experience," she joked.

As for the part of the nuptials she was looking forward to the most, Kerr said, "I cannot wait until we're all blind drunk, partying, New Year's Eve in our suits and just having a grand old time."

"That will be a lifetime memory with all of our friends, all dressed up."

"So it's not gonna finally be saying 'I do' to me?" Mewis challenged jokingly.

The couple first began dating in 2021, revealing their relationship publicly during the Tokyo Olympics, when Mewis comforted Kerr on the field.

They got engaged in 2023 after weeks of speculation, jointly announcing the news on Instagram with photos of Kerr down on one knee, captioned simply, "September 1st, 2023."

The pair welcomed their son Jagger Mewis-Kerr in May, telling fans via Instagram, "Our little man is here."
