Zara Tindall, Countess of Wessex and Princess Anne attend Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot

It was Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot on Thursday.

While Queen Elizabeth was again absent from the Berkshire racecourse, her daughter, Princess Anne, and daughter-in-law Sophie, Countess of Wessex, led the royals trackside.

Zara Tindall, Princess Anne's daughter and the Queen's granddaughter, who is also an Olympic equestrian, attended for the second time this week - having enjoyed the opening day with hubby Mike Tindall on Tuesday.

Wearing a floral Erderm frock paired with a blush pink bespoke headpiece by Sarah Cant, the mum-of-three smiled broadly for photographers.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, stunned in the style stakes again on day three of the annual event, which returns this year after being cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 56-year-old wore a 1950s-inspired deep green shirt dress by British designer Suzannah. It featured palm leaves embroidered on a full skirt, cinched in at the waist with a black belt.

The countess opted for nude suede pumps and a matching coloured headpiece with a floral motif.

The collared ensemble came the day after Princess Anne donned a shirt-style green jacquard silk dress.

For Thursday's outing, The Princess Royal went a bit more traditional in a yellow coat dress but kept the cream gloves and handbag combo from the day before.

The 70-year-old added pearls and a hat to complete the ensemble.

Queen Elizabeth had one horse racing on Ladies' Day. Just Fine was set to be ridden by jockey Richard Kingscote in the King George V Handicap.

Her Majesty made Royal Ascot history in 2013, when her horse Estimates won the Gold Cup on Ladies' Day — making her the first reigning monarch to win the coveted race in its 207-year history.

Prince Andrew presented the trophy to his mother, who couldn't wipe the smile off her face.
