Queen Elizabeth beams as she attends Royal Ascot for first time this year

Queen Elizabeth was grinning from ear-to-ear as she arrived for Day Five of Royal Ascot.

Her Majesty made her first appearance at this year's event on Saturday, which was also the final day of the racing meet in Berkshire.

The 95-year-old wore a mint coloured coat dress with pleats under the pockets donned over a floral frock and sported a matching hat with colourful flowers adorning it.

The monarch's white gloves were on and her trusty black handbag was fashioned in the crook of her elbow.

While the Queen wore a number of jewels, including a large diamond brooch, nothing sparkled quite as much as her smile.

Her Majesty was seen grinning as she was greeted by Sir Francis Brooke on arrival.

And when the monarch was introduced a short time later to jockey Frankie Dettori and trainer John Gosden trackside, the horse owner herself was beaming.

The equine enthusiast couldn't wipe the smile off her face as she cheered on those racing.

It's been a busy week for Her Majesty who last Saturday attended a special reception dinner during the G7 Summit in Cornwall, before hosting US President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden for tea at Windsor Castle on Sunday.

On Tuesday, the monarch held her first in-person royal audience since the pandemic began, meeting with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison at Windsor Castle.

The only other royal to attend Royal Ascot on Saturday was the Queen's eldest grandchild, Peter Phillips.

Peter also attended earlier in the week, being spotted in the Royal Box on Ladies' Day, alongside his sister Zara Tindall and UK TV presenter Natalie Pinkham.

Zara also attended on Tuesday, Day One, with husband Mike Tindall, while her mum, Princess Anne, also attended on a number of days this week.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex and husband Prince Edward were also seen at Royal Ascot multiple times during the week.

However Prince William and Kate Middleton gave the annual event a miss this year.
