Queen Elizabeth's recent health challenges have proved sobering to royal followers. At 95, Her Majesty is already the longest serving head of the British monarchy and is looking forward to celebrating her Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

However recent events have left many questioning if she will live long enough to be honoured for her 70 years of service.

Then there is the question of what happens to the monarchy after she dies.

This is in contrast to the referendum held in 1999 asking if Australia should become a republic.

45.13 percent said 'Yes' and 54.87 responded with 'No'.

At 72, Prince Charles' time on the throne won't be anywhere as long as his mother's. Next in line to ascend the throne is Prince William, who is popular amongst royal followers.

In early 2021 a YouGov poll stated that Prince William was the most popular royal, beating out even his grandmother. The Queen was still widely popular amongst most ages, sitting at number two on the royal rankings.

When Prince William ascends the British throne he will have the Duchess of Cambridge by his side and she has certainly shown her worthiness to help head up the monarchy when the time comes.
