Queen Elizabeth is hiring a housekeeper to live across her many royal residences

If working in one of Her Majesty's royal residences sounds like your dream job, the good news is Queen Elizabeth is now hiring.

A job vacancy has become available within the royal household, but candidates best get in quick.

The entry-level position is for a housekeeping assistant, to be primarily based at Windsor Castle – the official residence of the monarch.

But the job advertisement says the successful applicant will also spend large amounts of time at Buckingham Palace in London and "across other residences throughout the year (approximately up to three months of the year)".

That's likely to include Balmoral Castle, in the Scottish Highlands, where Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh spent their summer break, and the Sandringham estate, in Norfolk, which plays host to the royal family's Christmas holiday.

The advertised job for the Housekeeping Apprenticeship pays approximately $34,000 and offers on-the job training.

It's part of a 13-month program that'll provide the successful candidate with "specialist technical skills that will form the foundations of your housekeeping career".

The role involves working alongside the hospitality team "to upkeep, clean and care for interiors and items, ensuring they're presented to their very best".

And there are some big perks.

Whoever gets the job will have live-in accommodation with all meals and travel expenses provided.

The benefits package includes 33 days holiday, an employer pension contribution scheme and access to "catering and recreational facilities" within the royal residences. 

"Practically minded, with great attention to detail, you take pride in your work and always aim for the highest standards," the advertisement reads.
