Lilibet speaks with American accent in newly-surfaced video from Meghan as meeting with the king looms
Princess Lilibet’s American accent is making headlines again after her mother, the Duchess of Sussex, celebrated a milestone with her lifestyle venture As ever.
It comes as rumours swirl about a possible meeting with King Charles which would be the first since Prince Harry and Meghan returned to Britain in late August.

In a short clip posted on Meghan’s social media account overnight, her daughter can be seen stirring a bowl of would eventually become one of the brand’s signature fruit spreads.
Lilibet, who is now five, is seen helping her mother cook. Meghan asks her: “What do we think Lili?”
The little princess, who was three at the time, replied in her American accent: “I think it’s beautiful”.
The video, which was first posted online in April 2025, was filmed in the kitchen of the family’s mansion in Montecito soon after Meghan launched her brand.
It marked the first time Lilibet’s voice had been heard on camera.
During an appearance on US television to promote the business and her Netflix show, the duchess said her children speak predominantly in “very American accents” but say a number of words like their father, Prince Harry.
“Some of the words ... they still say with a British accent,” she told The Drew Barrymore Show.

“So they’ll say Zebra. And what else do they say? They have these little moments where it comes out because they have very American accents.
“But they say words that are just like him and I think it’s adorable.”
Prince Archie, seven, was born in Britain in May 2019 but Princess Lilibet was born in California in June 2021 after the Sussexes quit their places as working royals and moved to the United States for a life of financial freedom.
Meghan’s lifestyle brand was originally called American Riviera Orchard. In a new post shared on Wednesday morning (Australian time) the duchess said she felt “very proud, and grateful” as she celebrated the brand’s success and arrival of her first holiday collection.
She shared a short video compilation of highlights, which included the clip of Lilibet, and another of Meghan eating raspberries off her fingers.

The duchess wrote: “When I was about eight years old I started my own business making handmade scrunchies I sewed on my grandmother’s Singer sewing machine and sold for $1 a piece.
“I sold Girl Scout cookies, had lemonade stands, worked in a frozen yoghurt shop and had countless other jobs. My entrepreneurial spirit was always there.
“As I shared years ago on The Tig (PS, love you ladies @thetiglets): ‘Behind every successful woman is herself’ − and that’s true… but there’s more: a community of love, a squad of support, an amazing team.

“As I pinch myself looking at how this brand has grown, and as we introduce our holiday collection, I feel very proud, and grateful.”
She added: “A huge thanks to my team at @aseverofficial.
“So proud of what we are creating together. Thanks for helping bring this vision to life.”
The holiday collection includes $220 chocolate Advent calendar, inspired by the family’s $22m Montecito home with an illustration of the property on the front.
It was produced in collaboration with Los Angeles chocolatier Compartes and each sweet is inscribed with a number that in Meghan’s handwriting.
Other items in the collection include a “hostess basket” filled with fruit spreads, candles, teas and flower sprinkles, which costs $211 (approx. just over $302).
A larger version, called the “pantry basket” and packed with fruit spreads, honey, flower sprinkles, teas and mulled spice kits, is selling for $259 (approx. $371).
Other items in the collection include chocolate-covered fruit ($107) and a keepsake deck of cards ($69).
Meghan leadership of As ever is continuing from her new base in Britain after the family’s move back.
Meeting with king ‘in Charles’s diary’
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been living in Britain for just over a month now.
However, they are not believed to have seen King Charles since having lunch with him at Highgrove on July 10 when they were in the UK for a holiday.

Their move back was revealed three days later and the topic was reportedly not discussed during the reunion, which was described by Buckingham Palace as a “private” occasion.
In early September, The Mirror reported that Prince Harry had not spoken with his father on the phone, or seen him face to face, since returning.
However, a family gathering could soon be on the cards.
Unnamed sources have told US gossip columnist Rob Shuter that “there will be another meeting” before Christmas.
A source said, via Shuter’s Substack Naughty But Nice: “This is not a casual ‘let’s get together sometime’.
“Nobody drops in on the king. If Harry and Meghan are in Charles’s diary, it is because he wants them there. This is deliberate.”
A reunion between the Wales’ and the Sussexes anytime soon is unlikely. Getty
Another source added: “The important thing is that there will be another meeting. Charles is making room for his son again, and Harry knows how significant that is.”
However, a reunion between Prince Harry and his estranged older brother Prince William is unlikely.
Weeks after the couple’s return to Britain, King Charles issued a letter clarifying their status as “private citizens”.
The king, via the Lord Chamberlain, said Prince Harry and Meghan could not use their HRH titles and any charity work they undertook would be done in a private capacity and not conducted on behalf of the royal family.
Prince Harry and Meghan, the letter said, were “private citizens” and there would be “no change to the current status” of the couple following the Sandringham agreement, also known as the Sandringham summit, from 2020 when they stepped back as senior working royals.
