Prince William is all smiles as he visits community groups in Liverpool

Prince William was out and about on Thursday, meeting two community groups in Northern England.

The double royal engagements in Toxteth, Liverpool, came just a day after his brother Prince Harry's "monumental victory" in court against British tabloids.

The Prince of Wales appeared relaxed as he sipped a hot chocolate from a van alongside Cycle of Life founder Ibe Hayter, after his arrival at the non-profit cycling organisation.

He waved at passersby and beamed broadly as he stood outside the Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre, a multipurpose, multicultural building where the organisation is based.

After being given a broad overview, the royal met with young participants as they built and maintained bikes, even getting involved himself with the wheel of one bike.

Prince William is an avid cyclist himself and has been seen riding around with wife Kate and their three children near their country home of Anmer Hall in Norfolk in the past.

The 42-year-old was layered up for the outing amid chilly temperatures, wearing a deep forest green jacket over a brown knit and shirt combo with black jeans and trainers.

The Prince of Wales then met some of those on the OnTheGo project and saw their entrepreneurial cargo bikes in action.

The initiative, which has helped nearly 4000 young people, was originally set up in 2020 to deliver riding sessions and bicycle maintenance classes as a way to provide equal access to the hobby.

It has since expanded as a means to improve young people's confidence, build relationships, and improve their access to the city as a whole.

Cycle of Life is supported by BBC Children in Need, which works to help young people from diverse backgrounds improve their physical and mental health and boost their employment opportunities through cycling.

Later in the day, Prince William met with members of the Tiber Young People's Steering Group in his second engagement of the visit north.

The group includes mostly 14- to 18-year-olds, who came together to raise funds for the construction of a lively hub for the community, which is now nearing completion.

The Prince of Wales was given a tour of the new facility, which will ultimately comprise a function suite and outdoor event space, education rooms, a café, and changing rooms for the on-site football pitch.

The royal met with members of the group to hear about their experiences of working on the project, including the funding applications, the design, and the ultimate construction of the building, and the positive impact being involved in the project has had.

Once up and running the group hopes the facilities will create more jobs and volunteering opportunities as well as provide training facilities for local people.

Prince William, the former president of the Football Association and a huge football fan, later took to the pitch at the adjoining football centre, where he met with just some of the 1200 young people who use the centre each week.
