Prince William's sweet reaction when student says she is a fan of Princess Diana

Prince William has fondly remembered his late mother, Princess Diana, during the Royal Tour of Pakistan.

The Duke of Cambridge was talking to a 14-year-old student at a government-run school in Islamabad when the sweet exchange took place.

When the girl told William she was a fan of Diana's, he replied with a smile: "Oh, that's very sweet of you. I was a big fan of my mother too."

"She came here three times. I was very small. This is my first time and it is very nice to be here and meet you all," he added.

William also opened up to the student about why he became an Air Ambulance pilot, admitting: "I always wanted to learn to fly".

"I was flying for a while actually. I love flying, I feel very free (and) I like learning a skill, I enjoy that. I can relate the science of what you do."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge kicked off the first full day of their four-day tour in the capital city and met with various school kids, as they spoke about the importance of education - particularly for young girls.

The couple then met with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was a close friend of Diana's when he was married to Jemima Khan.

It's understood Prince William as a young boy played cricket with Khan.

The couple are attending a British High Commission reception this evening, at Pakistan National Monument.
