Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven't been able to escape the spotlight this year, from the duchess' legal battles to their pregnancy announcement and upcoming Oprah interview.

Now the Duchess of Sussex is facing new allegations of "bullying" royal staff during her time as a senior working royal; claims Buckingham Palace is set to investigate.

It's a tumultuous time for the Sussexes, but it seems Prince William and Kate Middleton are just as concerned by the drama surrounding them.

Back in the UK, Kate and William have been sticking to their royal duties, but behind the scenes the couple are said to be "desperately sad".

A royal source told Page Six: "William and Catherine could not be more discreet, they don't want to get involved in this public b--ch fest, but I am sure that William is desperately sad about all this."

The insider claimed "staying silent" has been the smartest move for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who have steered clear of the Sussexes' royal controversies.

William and Kate have both remained tight-lipped on any and all conflicts involving Harry and Meghan.

But the insider claims the couple's silence doesn't mean they don't care.

"They don't wish to elevate this soap opera," the source told the outlet, adding that the Middleton family have supported the couple during lockdown in the UK.

While the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been isolating in the UK with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, Harry and Meghan are living very different lives.

Following their royal exit in March 2020, the couple relocated to the US, where they're currently raising their young son Archie in California.

In mid-February, the pair announced they're expecting a second child; happy news, following Meghan's miscarriage in July last year.

Though the couple have carved out a new life for themselves apart from the royal family, Harry and Meghan have remained in the headlines since their exit.

The duchess recently won her court case against UK publications that printed a private letter from her to her father.

And just this week, she was accused of "bullying" former royal staff during her time as a senior working royal, allegations she firmly denies.
