Beaming Prince Harry spotted for the first time since news of his return home to the UK

While the Sussexes are yet to formally comment on news of their big move back to the UK, Prince Harry’s beaming face said it all on Wednesday.

The Duke of Sussex was spotted at a roundtable in Washington DC, centred on support for veterans, as news broke of his move back home, with the royal sitting behind a Union Jack flag in the US capital wearing a black suit, striped tie and a massive smile.

Harry appeared in his element - laughing and joking with others, including fellow ginger-haired attendee William Bringer - during the event, organised by The Independence Fund, a US organisation that helps severely wounded veterans.

The 41-year-old former British Army Major also got stuck into the serious conversations about the issue, which ties into his passion project The Invictus Foundation.

Through the charity, Prince Harry has been running the Paralympics-like Invictus Games for wounded or ill servicemen and women since 2014.

Next year it will return to the UK, taking place in Birmingham.

It was the recent One Year to Go event in Birmingham that brought Prince Harry back to England for a rare non-court case related visit after a number of previous short trips purely to London to take on various British tabloids in the courtroom.

Now, just six weeks later, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they’re moving back to the UK with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with the July visit said to have been pivotal in their decision.

It appears the quick trip wasn’t just a chance to catch up with King Charles at Highgrove or a chance to say hi to Harry’s uncle Earl Spencer at Diana’s family home of Althorp.

No, it seems the family were testing the waters and possibly even making arrangements, given reports the couple have already sorted out a home for themselves and the kids are already enrolled at school.

With the new UK school year beginning in September, it means the Sussexes will be wrapping up their US engagements over the coming weeks.

Prince Harry’s appearance at the roundtable in DC was almost reminiscent of six years ago when the Sussexes were seen beaming at the Canadian Embassy in London just hours before announcing their move to North America in early 2020.

Now, homesick Harry is clearly thrilled for the move back the other way, which is said to be for a significant period of time.

However, with the couple keeping their Montecito mansion as their US base, they will likely still be attending any number of events like this veteran’s roundtable in the future.
