Royal experts are bracing themselves for the paperback release of Prince Harry's memoir Spare.

The new version of the controversial book is out on October 24 in the UK and October 22 in the US, the same time King Charles attends his first Heads of Government meeting in Samoa.

There is concern the paperback release will overshadow His Majesty's appearance and reignite tensions triggered by the book's revelations.

It is doubtful Harry knew about his father's scheduled appearance, according to royal expert Ingrid Seward who told The Sun it's likely a case of "unfortunate timing."

"Of course it will dredge everything up again," she added.

Paperback versions of books are typically released a year after the original publication date and are more affordable versions of original hardbacks.

"There's plenty of words in that book to to go through again, many more people will buy the book, because it'll be cheaper, and it's more portable," Seward said.

While some paperback versions of books include updates, it is understood Spare will be published in its original form.

Publishers Penguin Random House announced on Monday that Spare's new paperback version would be published in 16 languages worldwide.

There does not appear to be a date as yet for the Australian release but Spare's official website has links to pre-order the 416-page memoir - one of which suggests it could be out in Australia earlier than in the US and UK.

The book will have the same cover image as the hardcover edition, a newly-designed package but "the contents of the book are unchanged" they said.

Charles' first Heads of Government meeting is of the utmost importance to the monarch. Seward said he is unlikely to be affected by the book's re-release.

"I just think it's a rather unpleasant reminder of what has gone on with Harry, and indeed, Meghan over the past year," she said.

Following Charles first Heads of Government meeting, the king and Queen Camilla will continue their autumn tour with a visit to Australia in October.
