Prince Harry 'seriously homesick' according to friend

Prince Harry is "seriously homesick" and "beginning to pine for home" according to a friend who has spoken out after the Duke of Sussex's latest trip back home to the UK.

Harry, 40, is also desperate to reconciliate with his father, King Charles, 76, who continues to battle an undisclosed form of cancer.

Alice Cockerell reports in The Standard that a friend of Harry's told her the royal started reaching out to his old school friends back home "more and more".

"He's started reaching out to us more and more. It started with very long and earnest whatsapps," the friend reportedly said.

"We actually all made a decision when we started getting them not to take the piss out of them. Something we couldn't have imagined doing a few years before."

The friend said the Duke of Sussex "seems to be sounding more normal" and they made a point to visit him whenever they were in America, although Harry was never joined by Meghan Markle for these catch ups.

"We think he is beginning to pine for home".

Added to this is Harry's concern over his father's health. King Charles has been undergoing cancer treatment since the beginning of 2024.

Prince Harry told the BBC in an interview in May he hopes to reconcile with his family, however his father wasn't currently speaking to him due to Harry's legal action over the loss of security while in the UK.

"I don't know how much longer my father has. He won't speak to me because of this security stuff. But it would be nice to reconcile," he said.

Harry also admitted the rift with his family had been exacerbated by the release of his memoir Spare in January 2023.

"Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things. But, you know … I would love reconciliation with my family.

"There's no point in continuing to fight anymore.

The Duke of Sussex travelled to the UK solo to attend the WellChild Awards on September 8. Harry has been patron of the organisation for the past 17 years.

During his visit to the UK he also stopped in to visit the Community Recording Studio in Nottingham where he made a sizeable donation to the BBC Children in Need charity.

It is understood he had hoped to meet with King Charles during the trip back home, but it is unclear if this has taken place.

A meeting between Harry and the King's teams, at a private members' club near Clarence House on July 9, led to speculation that a reconciliation was being negotiated.

Prince Harry's next Invictus Games is being held in Birmingham in the UK in 2027.

When he first launched the Invictus Games in London in 2014, he had the full support of his family who attended the event.
