Prince Harry postpones part of his trip to The Netherlands

Prince Harry has postponed part of his trip to The Netherlands.

However, the dad-to-be is still headed overseas next week for the Invictus Games.

The Duke of Sussex is postponing his Amsterdam visit, originally marked for Thursday but still hopes to get to The Hague on Friday, where he'll launch the one year countdown to the 2020 games.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes told 9News in a statement: "Due to the logistical planning for the travelling press to cover visits and engagements by The Royal Family, we have taken the decision to postpone The Duke of Sussex’s scheduled visit to Amsterdam on Wednesday 8th May 2019.

"The Duke is currently scheduled to travel to The Hague on Thursday 9th May for the launch of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020 as planned."

It's thought that Prince Harry, by changing his plans, is also paying respect to his father's work, with Prince Charles in the middle of a diplomatic visit to Germany on that day.

While brother, Prince William will be with The Duchess of Cambridge on an official engagement in Wales the same day.

Earlier this week it was announced the father-to-be old would be making the overnight visit to The Netherlands, although some royal correspondents had their doubts.

"I reckon, that trip to Amsterdam and The Hague, is not going to happen," journalist and author Katie Nicholl told Today on Thursday morning.

While others clarified it would be pending the Royal Baby's arrival.

"It seems Harry is very keen to honour a commitment he made to officially launch the one year countdown for Invictus 2020 and will go if he can - it's been in the diary for a long time apparently!" Hello! Royal Correspondent, Emily Nash, tweeted.

The 34-year-old Royal is set to become a first-time father any day now, with The Duchess of Sussex believed to be a week overdue and awaiting the birth of Baby Sussex in their new home of Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
