Queen Elizabeth has given Harry and Meghan York Cottage as a wedding present

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t your average newlyweds; while most are lucky to receive a new toaster as a wedding gift, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly been given York Cottage in Sandringham, from the Queen herself.
According to Metro, the house in Sandringham estate will be donated to the couple, who already live in Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace.
Queen Elizabeth also has her own home on the estate, and Sandringham House is said to be one of her favourite places to stay… so the kind gesture from Her Majesty shows her love for the happy couple.

While Harry and Meghan recently returned over $12million in royal wedding gifts, this is one they get to keep, and we wouldn’t be complaining about that view…

York Cottage has been called "eccentric" and is "said to resemble ‘three Merrie England pubs joined together’.”
Funnily enough, the residence used to be known as the Bachelor’s Cottage. It was gifted by the future King Edward VII, then the Prince of Wales, to his son Prince George, the Duke of York (later King George V) in 1893.

This isn’t the first time the Queen has given such a generous wedding gift. When Prince Charles married Diana he was given a house in Scotland, while Prince William and Kate Middleton had Anmer Hall, also in Sandringham near to Harry and Meghan’s new home, where they lived until mid-2017.

It is expected that, if Harry and Meghan have children, they may move full-time to the home in Norfolk to raise a family. Otherwise, they are also believed to rent a home in the Cotswolds.
Not a bad way to start married life.
