Prince Harry's nod to Meghan in latest charity video message

Prince Harry has made a nod to his wife, Meghan Markle, during his latest charity video message.

Recorded in their LA home, the Duke of Sussex congratulated OnSide members for the strength they've shown - especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Hats off to every single one of you for surviving but also for thriving," the 35-year-old said in a YouTube video as he introduced a live stream of the OnSide Awards ceremony.

His words echoed the now famous quote by the Duchess of Sussex's in their ITV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, filmed during their last ever Royal Tour.

"I've said for a long time to H—that's what I call him—it's not enough to just survive something, right?

"That's not the point of life. You've got to thrive, you've got to feel happy."

It was the first time the royal couple publicly voiced the strain they felt under with the scrutiny of public life.

Just a few months later, the pair called it quits on their roles as senior working members of the royal family.

But this time, the words took on a positive and encouraging message.

"Just a few months ago we were all together in London at the OnSide youth centre awards and wow what a night that was," Prince Harry recalled.

"I remember meeting so many incredible people and hearing your stories, stories of strength, of determination, of resilience. But ultimately of courage.

"These stories and these challenges, these daily challenges that you guys are coming up against are unbelievable.

"So many people will never understand. You guys have the strength to pull through."

Making reference to the pandemic, the royal added: "I can only imagine in the last six weeks have made it even more challenging but this too shall pass."

This was the first time the awards, held in November last year, were live streamed in full.

On the night, the Duke had given a speech on stage at the Royal Albert Hall before announcing the winners of the Health and Wellbeing category at the inaugural ceremony.

Prince Harry has visited the UK-based charity's facilities on a number of occasions, with 12 clubs around England, called 'Youth Zones', providing young people "safe and inspiring places to spend their leisure time".

The Duke and Duchess together popped into the Wigan Youth Zone in July 2016 and then in January 2019, the Hive Wirral Youth Zone.
