Parents at Archie's Californian pre-school 'don't care' about family's royal status

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's choice to relocate their family to California in the US seems to have been the right one, with reports son Archie's pre-school peers have no idea he is a royal.

Prince Harry, 37, and Meghan Markle, 40, resigned from the British monarchy in 2020 and purchased a sprawling home in celebrity-soaked Montecito, where they reside with their children Archie, two, and Lilibet, seven months.

After settling into their new home, the pair set about finding a pre-school placement and reportedly found one near their residence, where their son has settled in nicely.

It seems Archie's peers at the preschool "don't know" the red-headed toddler is a royal and parents "don't care" about it, according to a source who spoke with The Mirror.

Parents at the preschool have reportedly told the publication Harry and Meghan share drop off and pick up duties at the school.

"Harry often drops Archie off and picks him up, and seems like a good dad," a source is quoted as saying.

"All the parents have been laid back in welcoming Harry and Meghan, without making a fuss. And to the other kids, Archie is just one of them."

This claim comes after Harry and Meghan shared a family photo for Christmas showing a growing Archie and a giggling Lilibet, shared via their foundation Archewell.

Archie will celebrate his third birthday on May 6, and Lilibet will mark her first birthday on June 4.

It is understood the duke and duchess plan to return to the UK this year to participate in Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations marking 70 years on the British throne, however with the omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus continuing to spread in the UK and around the world, it may just be Harry who attends.

The prince travelled to the UK for two solo trips in 2021 — in April for Prince Philip's funeral and in July for the unveiling of a statue of his mother, Princess Diana.

This year, the pair have several projects underway including Harry's memoir, which he has promised will be an "accurate and wholly truthful account" of his life so far.
