Prince Harry may not apply for US citizenship because it would mean he'd have to renounce his royal title and any remaining loyalties to the British throne.
US citizens must renounce their loyalty to a "foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty", something Harry may not be prepared to do.
According to E! News, Prince Harry won't apply for a Green Card or dual citizenship as this will mean renouncing any remaining ties to his homeland.
"Harry is not applying for a Green Card or dual citizenship anytime soon, which will come as a surprise to many because that is what most people assumed he'd do on moving to the US," the source said.

Becoming a citizen also means having to pay taxes on any earnings he makes around the world.
It isn't known if the prince is in the US on a 90-day visa waiver program available to most Britons, or whether he entered the country on a diplomatic visa.
His wealth alone should allow him to apply for an entrepreneurial visa if he plans to invest in businesses in the US.

Archie remains a dual citizen of the US and the UK.
It is also understood that the door remains open for Meghan and Harry to return to royal fold after a year.

Harry and Meghan have relocated to California with their son Archie, 10-months following their resignation as senior working members of the British royal family in January 2020.
The family had been staying at a friend's mansion on Vancouver Island in Canada ahead of the move to LA where Meghan's mother Doria Ragland is, although they haven't been able to see Doria in person due to coroanvirus restrictions.

They officially began their lives independent of the royal family on April 1. While the coronavirus crisis has caused any plans they had to be delayed, it is understood that Meghan is planning a return to acting.
While Meghan may have begun the process of becoming a British citizen following her marriage to Prince Harry, it takes years and may not have been finalised ahead of their move.
