Little Prince Charles of Luxembourg has delighted aged-care residents during a series of special visits aimed at lifting their spirits after months of lockdowns.

The royal, who turned one in May, was certainly a hit when he accompanied his parents to the nursing homes across the small European country.

Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie have been visiting a number of aged care homes now that health restrictions have eased.

They wanted to thank staff and highlight the heavy toll the pandemic lockdowns had on the most vulnerable members of society, who were separated from family and friends for extended periods.

And Prince Guillaume and Princess Stephanie both saw the effect their son had on the elderly.

"By his laughing and playful nature, the little Prince also transmitted a lot of happiness during his interactions with the seniors," they said on Instagram alongside several photos from their visits.
