Prince Charles has just made his first public appearance - and no, not the Prince of Wales, but the newest addition to Luxembourg's royal family.

At four months old, Charles accompanied parents Prince Guillaume, 38 and Princess Stephanie, 36, on his first official royal engagement.

The second-in-line to the Luxembourg throne, who was born in May, visited the Château de Munsbach's rose garden on Monday.

In a Luxembourg tradition to name roses after newborn royals dating back to 1981, a number of bushes received Charles' title from the Conservatory for Luxembourg's Rose-Growing Heritage.

The royal baby was pictured smiling as his family viewed his namesake pink roses.

In addition to viewing the fully bloomed rose bushes, Guillaume and Stephanie planted their own flowers in honour of their son.

The Royal Court of Luxembourg shared the news of Charles' attendance, posting images of him with his parents on Instagram.

Tucked safely into his mother's arms, the pint-sized prince was dressed in an adorable grey woollen hoodie with a pom-pom on the top and beamed at the camera.

Images captured Guillaume and Stephanie playing with their child as they listened to speeches and exploring the gardens of the lavish Chateau.

Both parents also wore protective face coverings for the majority of the event.

A sweet moment occurred during a seated portion of the day, when first-time father Prince Guiilaume held his son's tiny hand.

The Luxembourg flower naming tradition began 29 years ago when roses were named after Grand-Duke Adolphe.

Prince Charles' birth on May 10 came in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

Due to social distancing, the newborn was unable to meet his grandparents Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa in person.

Instead, the couple enjoyed a video call with the new family member.

However, photos released by the Royal Family in June revealed the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess had finally been able to meet their grandchild, gifting him a sweet teddy bear.

"It is with great pleasure that Prince Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie reveal new pictures of their son Charles," the Instagram post read.
