Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet join Prince Harry and Meghan to prepare meals for the disadvantaged in LA

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have joined their parents the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in helping to prepare and pack meals for the disadvantaged in Los Angeles.

The children, who are aged six and four, were seen in a series of photos shared by Meghan on Instagram and the couple's charity, the Archewell Foundation.

The Sussex family were at the Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles (OBKLA) to prepare and package meals for those experiencing food insecurity ahead of Thanksgiving today and Christmas.

In a message on the couple's official website they said: "The Archewell Foundation remains committed to putting compassion into action – serving and uplifting communities locally and globally.

"As we head into the holiday season, we celebrate those working every day to ensure that no one is left behind and where the needs of our neighbours are met."

The meals prepared by Prince Harry and Meghan, and their children, will be distributed to schools, shelters, senior centres, and other community organisations, according to the statement.

Every year, OBKLA provides more than 70,000 meals to those in need.

Archie and Lilibet can be seen in a series of photos, wearing black caps and with their faces turned away from the camera.

Lilibet is wearing a festive-themed tartan print dress, with her long red hair in a braid. In one of the photos, she can be seen holding onto Meghan's hand.

It's believed to be the first time Prince Harry and Meghan's children have joined them to help out in a community kitchen.

News of their appearance was shared on Meghan's Instagram stories with the caption 'show up, do good' which is part of the mission statement for their charity.

Since Meghan returned to social media in January, she has used her Instagram account to post countless photos and videos of Archie and Lilibet.

Many of the videos and photos, however, do not show their faces in full.

The couple has been criticised for doing so, having previously cited their desire for privacy as one of the reasons for leaving the UK.

In October, Meghan posted a video showing she and Harry taking their children to pick pumpkins ahead of Halloween.

The outing at the LA kitchen was detailed on the Archewell website but there was no mention of Archie and Lilibet being involved.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex created the Archewell Foundation in October 2020, months after the couple officially parted ways with the British royal family.

Prince Harry and Meghan announced their intention to leave their places as senior working royals in January and carried out their last official engagement alongside the royal family at the Commonwealth Day service on March 9.

The Archewell Foundation, which is based in Beverly Hills, includes Prince Harry and Meghan's business and their non-profit ventures.

The name 'Archewell' originates from the Ancient Greek word 'arche', meaning source of action, and the English word 'well'.

When its website was unveiled in December 2020, Harry and Meghan featured photographs of their mothers, Princess Diana and Doria Ragland, pledging to "build a better world".

In a joint statement, called "Letter for 2021", the couple said: "I am my mother's son. And I am our son's mother. Together we bring you Archewell.

"We believe in the best of humanity. Because we have seen the best of humanity. We have experienced compassion and kindness, From our mothers and strangers alike.

"In the face of fear, struggle and pain, it can be easy to lose sight of this. Together, we can choose courage, healing, and connection. Together, we can choose to put compassion in action.

"We invite you to join us. As we work to build a better world. One act of compassion at a time."
