Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice will retain their royal titles, despite their father Andrew no longer being a Prince.

It's understood the sisters will keep their Honours in line with King George V's Letters Patent of 1917.

The removal process only applies to Andrew, who will no longer have the titles of Prince, Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, Baron Killyleagh and the style "His Royal Highness".

The 65-year-old will now be known only as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

A statement from Buckingham Palace confirmed that His Majesty King Charles III had initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Andrew on Thursday evening, Friday morning in Australia.

He will no longer have the titles of Prince, Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, Baron Killyleagh and the style "His Royal Highness".

The honours affected are Prince Andrew's Order of the Garter and Knight Grand Cross of the Victorian Order.

The change will take place with immediate effect.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are not working royals and do not carry out official duties on behalf of the King, each forging their own careers separately.

In 2018, Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank, and the couple now share two sons.

Princess Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020, with the couple welcoming two daughters together.

It was revealed earlier this week that both princesses had left the UK amid the ongoing controversy regarding their father.

Princess Beatrice was all business, splitting off to the Future Investment Initiative in Saudi Arabia with asset management company LionTree.

Princess Eugenie, meanwhile, opted for pleasure, and was spotted in Paris alongside girlfriends Sterling McDavid and Sarah Calodney.

The sisters reportedly share a close relationship with parents Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, both of whom are the subjects of renewed scrutiny regarding their ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Andrew has always strenuously denied the allegations made against him.

However, despite his denials his daughters are rumoured to have been distancing themselves in the wake of the scandal.

Andrew Lownie, author of the biography Entitled about the divorced royal couple, recently speculated this in an interview with nine.com.au.

"They have begun to distance themselves a bit," Lownie said in London.

"You'll see quite a lot of PR stuff being put out that they're victims, they knew nothing about it, and they're really nicely brought up girls [who are] happily married, and they're moving on with their lives.

"So there is an attempt to sort of create a distance between them."

The statement confirmed Andrew will also move out of the Royal Lodge and move to Sandringham, in Norfolk, one of two privately owned residences by King Charles.

He has lived in the Royal Lodge in Windsor with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson since 2008, despite the pair separating in 1992.

It's understood Ferguson will make her own living arrangements in future.

It's not known where she will reside, or if she will do so with Andrew.
