Prince Harry and Meghan to return to the UK with Archie next month

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will return to the UK next month at the request of the Queen.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are briefly resuming their royal duties to attend the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on March 9, reports The Sunday Times.

Their son, Archie, who will be 10-months-old, is also making the return journey to England with his parents.

Harry and Meghan will be there as president and vice-president of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust. They will be joined by other members of the royal family, including the Prince of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Earl and Countess of Wessex. Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are also likely to be among the royal guests.

The service is believed to be one of Harry and Meghan's final round of royal engagements before they head back to their new home in Canada, where they have been living since January.

Just days ago, they spoke at a JP Morgan event in Miami, Florida, in front of 425 bankers and celebrities, where Harry revealed his struggles in dealing with the death of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, and his decision to give up his place as a senior royal.

Her Majesty is said to be ok with Harry and Meghan's new arrangement, reportedly telling friends: "If that's what they want, if they want to go, we must let them go".

When Prince Harry and Meghan initially announced they would be stepping back as senior royals, they affirmed their intention to "honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages".

Commonwealth Day is an annual celebration observed by people all over the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe.

Last year, the Sussexes and the Cambridges attended the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in what was touted as a show of support amid feud rumours.

Meghan and her sister-in-law greeted one another warmly with a kiss on the cheek and chatted together as fellow attendees filed into the abbey.

This year's service will be the third time Meghan has attended the event.
