Looking at the photos from Meghan Markle's first royal outing with Queen Elizabeth, it's obvious the pair share a warm bond.

Emily Andrews, a royal correspondent for The Sun, shared on Twitter that Buckingham Palace had confirmed the jewellery was given to the 36-year-old by Her Majesty.

"[In my opinion] the pearls look old, not new, and so likely come from the Queen’s personal collection rather than a shop," Andrews added.

Their design is reminiscent of a pair the Queen regularly wears herself, though hers are slightly bigger.

They're also very similar to the earrings Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge wore on the steps of St Mary's Hospital following Prince Louis' birth in April.

While Catherine had worn them on various occasions, the earrings were reportedly on loan from the Queen.

She also had the rare privilege of being invited to travel on the Royal Train with the Queen - something typically reserved for the senior members of the Royal Family like Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
