King Frederik and Queen Mary's heartfelt message as summer tour ends

King Frederik and Queen Mary have wrapped up their summer tour with a visit to Vejle.

The couple has been sailing around Denmark on the Royal Ship Dannebrog visiting various municipalities.

Frederik, 56, and Mary, 52, posed for photos at the town hall before meeting residents and children at Kong Gauer's Gård, Denmark's first fully integrated care home and daycare cente.

This was followed by an official lunch at Fjordenhus.

In the evening, the royals hosted a reception on board the Royal Ship for invited guests from each municipality.

Queen Mary arrived in Vejle wearing a navy and grey ensemble, a full polka-dot navy skirt with a light patterned blouse and cropped jacket. This was teamed with a wide hat.

King Frederik was dressed in his official navy uniform.

They spoke of the visit on their official social media channels, sharing several photos taken during the stop.

"Nature, architecture and community across generations have been the red thread today during the Royal couple's visit to Vejle Municipality," the post, which has been translated from Danish to English, read.

"After the official reception, Their Majesties the King and the Queen met the youngest and oldest citizens of the municipality in Kong Gauers Gård, which is both a daycare institution and a nursing home in the same building with common areas and activities for children and the elderly," it continued.

"Thank you Bornholm and olrø, Assens and Vejle for making our first summer trip one we will never forget," they said in a joint statement translated from Danish to English.

"Everywhere we have been welcomed in the most festive way from roadside, windows and balconies, on harbour fronts, town squares and town halls," they continued.

"Yes. Our country has a lot to offer and we have enjoyed experiencing culture and nature, communities and professional skills on our own."

The royals ended their statement by thanking everyone who has "spontaneously and planned to share personal stories, experiences and talents, and to everyone who has prepared, hosted and participated over the past four days."

They also shared a photo taken ahead of the evening reception in Vejle.

The couple's summer tour began in May this year with the royals joined by their children for various stops.

Frederik and Mary are parents to Crown Prince Christian, 18, Princess Isabella, 17, and 13-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.
