Queen Mary and King Frederik have given royal fans a rare look inside the official functions held on board the family's yacht.

Photos from the reception held on Tuesday show the royal couple, and their invited guests, dining on salmon, crayfish, rooster and turbot.

Mary, 52, was photographed speaking to one of the guests during the buffet wearing an embroidered dress by Etro and jewels gifted by her mother-in-law.

Queen Margrethe II gave Mary her suite of turquoise jewellery including diamond and turquoise earrings, a matching brooch and ring, for her 50th birthday in 2022.

Mary has worn the jewels on special occasions, including at the coronation of King Charles of Britain.

Before the function held on board the royal yacht Dannebrog, King Frederik and Queen Mary had a full schedule of engagements exploring Ærø, a Danish island in the Baltic Sea, on day two of their summer cruise.

Reached only by sea, Ærø is famed for its fishing villages, natural beauty and historic buildings with the island being traced back to the Ice Age.

Queen Mary and King Frederik arrived at Marstal Harbour and spent time meeting locals who had lined the streets to see the couple.
