King Charles heckled over Prince Andrew as pressure mounts on royal to be evicted

King Charles has been confronted with questions about Prince Andrew during a cathedral visit, as speculation mounts about the disgraced royal's future living arrangements.

The heckler was heard shouting at the monarch during the outing in Staffordshire on Monday.

The man yelled to the King: "How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein? Have you asked the police to cover up for Andrew? Should MPs be allowed to debate the royals in the House of Commons?"

King Charles, 76, did not react to the man but members of the public who were also outside Lichfield Cathedral were heard telling him to "shut up".

The video was shared by Republic, a campaign group advocating for the abolishment of the monarchy.

Graham Smith, the chief executive of Republic, said the man who shouted at the King was "one of our own members but doing their own thing, which we fully support".

He said: "The royals need to be challenged, and if the politicians won't do the job and the police won't investigate, then more and more members of the public will be asking tough questions.

"We want to see broadcasters invite Charles into a studio and ask him the same questions."

The so-called 'Prince Andrew problem' has been dominating global headlines since the 65-year-old said he would no longer use his Duke of York title on October 27, following mounting anger over his ties with the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

His living arrangements are under scrutiny with growing calls for Andrew to be evicted from the Royal Lodge, despite holding a lease with the Crown Estate until 2078.

Andrew has lived at the 30-bedroom property with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson since 2003.

Talks are underway between the King's advisers and Prince Andrew's team to find alternative arrangements, it is understood.

A possible solution is for Prince Andrew to move into the smaller Frogmore Cottage nearby, which was the former home of Prince Harry and Meghan before they moved to the US. The home is currently vacant.

Frogmore Cottage, which was refurbished by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, was previously offered to Prince Andrew.

Ferguson could move into Adelaide Cottage, where the Prince and Princess of Wales live with their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The Wales family are due to move to the bigger Forest Lodge in just over a week.

However, both Frogmore Cottage and Adelaide Cottage are in Windsor and part of the Crown Estate, with an estimated rent of £15,000 (approx. $30k) per month – raising questions about how Prince Andrew or Ferguson would afford to pay for it.

A source close to Ferguson has said neither she nor Prince Andrew had made any demands.

Prince Andrew is understood to be in "advanced talks" to vacate Royal Lodge.

Last week, it was revealed that Prince Andrew has only paid "peppercorn" rent on the Royal Lodge for the past 20 years.
