Princess of Wales pays tribute to Scotland, and the late Queen and Diana, with second coronation outfit
The Princess of Wales has worn an outfit that paid tribute to Scotland and the late Queen Elizabeth II for a celebration of King Charles' coronation.
And to possibly silence her critics, who've recently accused the royal of spending too much money on new clothes, Catherine's coat was a repeat, having been worn twice before.
She also included a small nod to the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

Scotland put on a day of pomp, pageantry and prayer during a Service of Thanksgiving and Dedication held in the King's honour in Edinburgh on Wednesday July 5.
The tradition of a Scottish coronation dates back 400 years.
In 1953, weeks after Queen Elizabeth II was crowned inside Westminster Abbey in London, she celebrated her coronation for the second time in Edinburgh.

The King, Queen and Prince William wore their deep green Order of the Thistle mantles representing the highest order of chivalry in Scotland. The thistle is the national emblem of Scotland.
The Princess of Wales chose a much more simple, but equally symbolic, outfit.

She accessorised in the same colour with a new hat by Philip Treacy, made specially for the occasion, heels by Emmy London and a clutch.
The coat dress was last seen on Kate on Easter Sunday when members of the royal family wore co-ordinated shades of blue to St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
It was first worn on the princess at the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey in March, 2022.

Kate's blue dress underneath is believed to a Jenny Packham creation.
But it was her choice of jewels that sent the biggest message.
The Princess of Wales wore the late Queen's pearl and diamond necklace that was last seen at Her Majesty's funeral in September.
The Four Row Japanese Pearl Choker was also worn by Kate to the funeral of Prince Philip in 2021.

Queen Elizabeth first loaned the necklace to Kate in 2017, and prior to that it was lent to Princes Diana in 1982.
It was a poignant choice for Kate to wear in Scotland, a country where Queen Elizabeth felt most at home and could relax during long walks in the countryside of her beloved Balmoral Castle.
The monarch passed away at the estate on September 8 last year.
Kate also wore the Collingwood pearl drop earrings which belonged to her late mother-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales.

The earrings are one of Kate's most worn pairs.
Kate's outfit was much less formal than what she wore to the coronation at Westminster Abbey, which included a white Alexander McQueen gown underneath her Victorian Order Mantle and an embroidered floral crown.
In Scotland, the Prince and Princess of Wales are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay. The titles were inherited when Charles became King.
They were previously known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn in Scotland.
