'New leaf turned' for royal family after Kate's Remembrance outings

Kate Middleton's recent return to her royal duties marks a "new leaf turned" for the royal family, according to an expert.

The Princess of Wales stepped out over the weekend for two Remembrance outings in London, her first back-to-back public engagements since undergoing surgery in January.

The dual appearances come just weeks after it was confirmed she had completed her chemotherapy treatment.

Russell Myers, royal editor for the Daily Mirror, said Catherine's return was "good news" after what has been a "topsy-turvy year" for the princess and the rest of the royal family.

"She was looking forward to getting back to duties as soon as possible, whenever she could," Myers told Today Extra.

He remarked two outings over the weekend "will have taken quite a lot out of her."

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William on Saturday for the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall.

She was pictured alongside her husband, wearing black with her hair down for the night.

Myers noted the outing was a "big occasion" for the royals, kicking off their Remembrance weekend.

Catherine made a second appearance the next day for the service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph, joining her husband, King Charles and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh.

"So you know, I think a new leaf has been turned and hopefully we're going to get to see Kate a bit more in the weeks to come," he said.

The princess stepped back from her royal duties earlier in the year after undergoing "planned abdominal surgery" and later revealing she was undergoing cancer treatment.

While the Princess of Wales was present for the back-to-back Remembrance outings, one person notably absent was Queen Camilla, who is recovering from a chest infection.

Myers revealed he had spoken to insiders at the Palace and confirmed there was "no cause for alarm" over the Queen's health.

"She's got a chest infection, so she's been ordered to stay at home for on doctor's orders," he said, remarking the Queen has had a "pretty hectic schedule" of late.

Just a few weeks prior, Camilla joined her husband King Charles in Australia as part of an 11-day Pacific royal tour.

"She's been putting her best foot forward, taking one for the team, as it were, for so many months now with the King and the Princess of Wales being off," Myers said.

"So hopefully she's getting a bit of R&R and I'm sure we're going to see her back to duties later on this week."
