Former Qatar princess found dead of suspected drug overdose: reports

Kasia Gallanio, a former princess of Qatar, has reportedly been found dead of a suspected drug overdose.

Gallanio, 45, was the third wife of Qatari prince and billionaire Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al Thani, 73.

As reported by French newspaper Le Parisien, her body was found in her bed at her home in Marbella, Spain by police after her youngest daughter contacted them saying she hadn't been able to reach her mother for the past few days.

Gallanio met Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al Thani in Paris, where he was living in exile since 1992.

They went on to have three daughters, Sheikha Malak, Sheika Yasmin and Sheikha Reem.

After leaving Al Thani, a bitter custody dispute followed, with the former royal talking about her estrangement from her two eldest children following the split. (Watch the video above to hear her comments).

Gallanio had claimed her ex-husband had cut off contact with her two eldest children as "punishment" following the end of their marriage.

Their custody battle had spanned the past 15 years.

In the video above, recorded with Women's World, Galliano explained the pain of not seeing her children.

"The little one is not allowed to talk to me, which makes me extremely sad because she gets a lot of material things from her father, so it's almost like manipulation and blackmail," she claimed, adding it felt like "a part of my body is missing".

In more recent years Galliano has focused on rebuilding her life, regularly rubbing shoulders with celebrities including Lisa Rinna, Sofia Vergara – whose wedding she attended – and Clive Owen.

A post mortem has been scheduled.
