Cambridge children expected to take key role in Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations

The three Cambridge children could take starring role at some of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee events in a special show of Her Majesty's legacy.

Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte who will soon turn seven, and Prince Louis, who celebrated his fourth birthday on Saturday, are likely to join their parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during the celebrations in June.

While the final schedule of the royal family's appearances at the Jubilee celebrations are yet to be finalised, the plans are expected to see the younger generation of the Queen's family at the core.

The Cambridge children will appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for Trooping the Colour, The Telegraph UK reports.

They could also take part in the carriage procession through the Mall, following in the footsteps of Prince William who took his first formal carriage ride aged four.

The Duchess of Cambridge is expected to host an event at the Tower of London, Superbloom, which will see the famous moat filled with flowers planted especially for the Jubilee.

Her children could join her for the spectacle, in a similar way to their appearance at Kate's "back to nature" garden at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019.

They might also appear at the Platinum Party at the Palace concert, expected to be hosted by Prince Charles.

The Queen's grandchildren - including Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie - are expected to join in the fun at the concert.

Prince Harry and Meghan are yet to confirm whether they will fly to London for the four-day weekend after the Queen extended the Sussexes an invitation.

The Telegraph reports the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be given full security for all Platinum Jubilee events.

Prince Harry has previously said it would be unsafe for him to bring Meghan and their children Archie and Lilibet to the UK.

When asked during an interview on American television last week whether he would be at the Jubilee events Prince Harry said: "I don't know".

The Queen's attendance during the festival will be confirmed on the day due to the monarch's current mobility issues.

Her Majesty is expected to be at key moments of her Jubilee, including Trooping the Colour and the Epsom Derby.
