Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor offered temporary home to speed up move from Windsor as newly renovated property seen for first time

Nearly two months into the new year and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is yet to leave his palatial royal home on the Windsor estate.

The former prince was given his marching orders in late October by his brother King Charles after 20 years of paying minimal rent to live inside Royal Lodge, a 30-bedroom mansion run by the Crown Estate.

He was expected to move out by February to a smaller home on the King's private Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

To speed up the process, King Charles has reportedly offered his younger brother a temporary property at Sandringham before he moves into Marsh Farm. The interim property could be either Wood Farm, where Prince Philip lived, and York Cottage.

Major works are being carried out at Marsh Farm, which is expected to become Andrew's new permanent home this year.

The property has been vacant for years and recently, wooden fences were installed along with a new security surveillance system.

New photos of the freshly-renovated property have now become available.

In December, a no-fly zone restriction around Sandringham was extended to include Marsh Farm, which is located around three kilometres from the main house where the royals celebrate Christmas each year.

Andrew's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, joined the King and Queen Camilla for Christmas last year without their parents.

One source recently told The Times it was hoped Andrew would move to Sandringham by Easter, which falls in early April this year.

Another suggested he would be out of Windsor by his 66th birthday on February 19, with the King's offer of a temporary home to speed up the process.

Andrew's move from Royal Lodge after more than 20 years was trigged by anger over his past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which led to him stepping back from working duties working royal in November, 2019.

Andrew later had all his royal titles formally stripped by King Charles in October, including that of prince. He remains eighth in the line of succession.

A month later, Andrew gave notice of his departure from the Royal Lodge and under the terms of the lease agreement he has until October this year to move out.

However, it is likely the move will happen much sooner.

The former prince will miss out on receiving nearly $1 million in compensation for handing back his lease on the home early, owing to the amount of repairs needed on the heritage-listed building.

According to the terms, Andrew was responsible for paying for the upkeep of Royal Lodge, ensuring its exterior stonework remained in good condition every five years and painting the interior every seven years

On Monday, the 65-year-old was photographed wearing a Grenadier Guards jumper despite having his his colonel title stripped in January 2022.

He once held the title of Colonel of the Grenadier Guards but it was one of many military affiliations and royal patronages returned to the late Queen Elizabeth II during Andrew's legal battle with Virginia Giuffre, who had accused the royal of sexual abuse. Queen Camilla is now the colonel of the Grenadier Guards, one of the oldest regiments in the British Army.

In December, Andrew was stripped of his last military title, the honorary military rank of vice-admiral. He now has the rank of commander (retired) Royal Navy, after serving for 22 years.

His only remaining military affiliations are his operational service medals, including his Falklands War campaign medal.
