Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s court testimony delayed months after man threatened him near Sandringham home

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor will appear via video link in a British court later this year after allegedly being threatened near his secluded home on the King’s private estate.

The former prince was due to give evidence this week, but the case against Alex Jenkinson was delayed until December.

The 39-year-old is accused of threatening the 66-year-old while he was outside walking his dogs near Marsh Farm, on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, in May.

He allegedly caused alarm or distress to the royal, who reportedly fled to his car along with his security team and sped away.

Some reports at the time suggested Jenkinson was wearing a ski mask as he ran toward the former royal while shouting abuse.

Jenkinson had been due to stand trial over the alleged offence on Wednesday at Westminster magistrates court but a new date of December 21 was set by Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring.

Andrew is expected to give evidence via video link during the trial.

At the hearing overnight, the court heard Jenkinson made several searches on the internet, via his phone, about the former prince’s security arrangements before the alleged incident.

Police are said to have gathered 340 pages of keywords from the alleged internet searches, including “Andrew’s Norfolk Security” and “Prince Andrew birthday”.

A decision on whether the internet searches can be included in the trial will be made at a later date.

Jenkinson was arrested on May 6 when police were called to Wolferton, just after 7.30pm, after reports a man had been acting in a threatening manner.

He was later charged with two counts relating to the alleged incident, both of “using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to harass someone or cause alarm or distress”. One was against the king’s brother, the other was against another man nearby.

Jenkinson has pleaded not guilty and as part of his bail conditions, he has been prohibited from contacting the former prince directly or indirectly.

He is also banned from visiting any royal sites including Sandringham, Buckingham Palace, Balmoral, Windsor Castle and Highgrove House.

In February, Andrew moved to Sandringham and settled into the five-bedroom farmhouse, Marsh Farm, in April following his eviction from Royal Lodge in Windsor.

He was arrested at Sandringham on February 19, his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office following allegations he shared sensitive information with Jeffrey Epstein during his time as the UK’s trade envoy.

Andrew was later released and no charges have been laid. He denies any wrongdoing in the matter.

In October last year, King Charles formally stripped his brother of his prince title and dukedom over his association with the convicted sex offender.
