Queen, Prince Charles "not happy" with Meghan Markle's new interview

Meghan Markle’s declaration of love in Vanity Fair this week marked the first time the actress has publicly acknowledged her relationship with Prince Harry.

The Suits star said she and Harry had been together for six months before it became public knowledge, adding, "We're two people who are really happy and in love."

Lovely, right? That depends who you ask.

According to one royal butler, the interview has ruffled a few feathers at Kensington Palace.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles - who are both in Scotland at the moment - were both unaware the interview had taken place, the source tells Daily StarDaily Star

So, as you might imagine, they got a bit of a rude surprise when Markle's "Wild About Harry!" magazine cover appeared on newsstands.

“They both had a meeting at [Balmoral Castle] and Prince of Wales phoned his son Prince Harry.

“It is very serious.”

Oh dear.

However, Kensington Palace refuted the butler’s claims, telling the Daily Star his version of events wasn’t true.

As for the subjects of the interview, they’re a little happier with how the story turned out.

In it, he condemned the “wave of abuse and harassment” that had been directed at Markle as rumours of their relationship emerged.

“Some of this has been very public - the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments,” the statement read.

It also outlined actions that had been taking place out of the public eye, including press attempts to gain illegal entry to the 36-year-old’s home and the “bombardment” of her loved ones.

Prince Harry expressed his concern for his girlfriend’s safety and pre-empted some of the negative commentary about her position.

“He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game’,” the statement continued. 

“He strongly disagrees. This is not a game - it is her life and his.”

In her Vanity Fair interview, Markle admitted she was surprised by the ways her life had changed since she began dating a royal.

“It comes in waves - some days it can feel more challenging than others,” she said.

"But I still have this support system all around me, and, of course, my boyfriend's support."

Despite the extra challenges, it seems Meghan and Harry are just like any other couple who are happily in love.

"I'm sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us,” she said.

"It's part of what makes it so special, that it's just ours. But we're happy. Personally, I love a great love story."
