Teen coerced into sending explicit images to older boy recalls school's response: 'They gave me an essay to write'

A UK teenager who was coerced into sending explicit photos of herself to older boys at age 13 has recalled her school's response to the incident, which involved her writing an essay to 'reflect on what she'd done'.

Roxy Longworth, 19, spoke about her experience on This Morning on ITV, with her mother Gay by her side. Watch the video above.

She said she was pressured by one boy in particular to send explicit images, which he shared with other boys. They then used those original images to coerce her into sending more.

Roxy says the boy she sent the original photos to was 17 and she thought he liked her, and it was during their message exchanges that he asked for the images.

"I was flattered to start with, it was exciting," she told show hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. "And very quickly he asked for photos, I said no, just immediately there was this pressure."

She said the boy threated to tell other she was "frigid" and "boring" if she didn't send the images, that "everyone was doing it" and if she didn't send the images, he'd stop talking to her.

So she sent the images, meant just for him, and he went on to share them with others.

Then one of the boy's friends contacted her, asking for images. Roxy said she initially ignored the request.

"And then he sent me four photos of myself," she explained, recalling her devastation.

Roxy then found out the boys were playing a game called Top Trumps, with the aim of convincing her to send them the most explicit image.

Having dealt with the situation herself for four weeks the school became involved.

"They gave me a reflective essay to write, about why I had done what I did and why I wouldn't do it again," she said.

"That was actually the first time I self-harmed".

Soon, she was suicidal.

Roxy said she felt she was "being punished" by the school and that is why she started punishing myself.

"It took me years to even think that something had been done to me. Years," she added.

Her mother Gay said she had no idea what had been going on until Roxy told her there were rumours going on around the school with her. Roxy eventually ran away.

The boys were reportedly never punished over what was done to Roxy.

Roxy and Gay have since written a book about their experience called When You Lose It: Two Voices. One Story. A Mother and Daughter on the Edge. They wrote it with the purpose of helping others avoid the trauma Roxy suffered.
