Mum whose son was ripped from her arms in flood charged over his death

A mother in the Canada has been charged over the death of her son after he was swept out of her arms in a fast-moving current.

Michelle Hanson was arrested over the death of Kaden Young, three, earlier this year.

Ms Hanson allegedly failed to stop at a road closure sign, her minivan plummeting into the Grand Valley River in Orangeville, Ontario.

When she tried to exit the vehicle with her son, she was unable to hold onto him due to a fast-moving current, CP24CP24.

Despite an extensive search, Kaden's body wasn't found until April 21 by fisherman.

Ms Hanson, 35, was formally charged in October with criminal negligence causing death.

She has also charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and impaired driving causing death.

Criminal defence lawyer Richard Allman, speaking on behalf of Ms Hanson says, a request that the court put her case over until November 27 has been successful.

Mr Allman stated he has not been retained by Ms Hanson at present.
