Aussie cricketer Michael Clarke urges fans to do skin checks after having skin cancer removed from his face

Michael Clarke has revealed he's had a skin cancer removed from his face.

The Aussie cricketing legend, 44, shared a candid image of himself after having the procedure done, and a message to fans to keep on top of their health and to remain sun safe.

"Skin cancer is real! Especially in [Australia]. Another one cut out of my nose today," Clarke wrote.

In his post, the former Australian team captain told fans to have regular skin checks and said he and his medical team "got it early."

There are four main types of skin cancer, but Clarke didn't reveal which one he had.

"A friendly reminder to get your skin checked. Prevention is better than cure but in my case, regular check ups and early detection is key.

The sports star, who hails from Sydney's Liverpool, has no doubt spent a lot of time in the sun with his sports career.

Clarke is an ambassador for the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation, which on his profile, says he "had 27 stitches across his chest after being diagnosed with a dangerous Basal Cell Carcinoma".

The sports star was previously married to ex-wife Kyly Clarke, 44, tying the knot back in 2012 in the Wolgan Valley, Blue Mountains.

But they confirmed their split in 2020.
