Footballer's pregnant fiancée has $892k engagement ring cut off her swollen finger

A diamond ring belonging to the fiancée of England's goalkeeper has been cut off her hand after it became stuck.

Megan Davison, who is engaged to Jordan Pickford, started to panic when she realised her fingers had swollen so severely her blood circulation had started turning the ring finger blue.

The 22-year-old is pregnant with the couple's first child and for many women expecting a baby, water retention causes swelling in the hands and feet.

Davison posted a photo to her Instagram Stories, appealing for help to save the engagement ring from being cut off.

Its estimated worth, according to the Daily Mail, is around $892k AUD.

"Anyone got any old wives tales tips on how to get my ring off?" she wrote on Instagram.

"Been told it's going to get the chop if I don't get it off soon."

She revealed to her 49.6k followers that she'd already tried using iced water, butter and liquid washing detergent to try and get the ring off her finger.

But nothing worked and the couple found themselves at a jeweller a few hours later, where the ring was cut off.

"Thanks so much everyone for the messages I'll try and reply once I have feelings back in my fingers," Davison wrote.

"However I currently feel like Edward Scissorhands and can’t even butter a slice of toast."

Davison and Pickford have been together for more than seven years and in July last year, found out they were expecting.

Pickford is one of the world's most expensive goal keepers – he was bought by Everton for £28.5m ($50m AUD) in 2007.
