Big Issue vendor hands out roses for Valentine's Day, just to see people smile

A brief word of warning: the following story will almost certainly bring happy tears to your eyes.
 
A Big Issue vendor named Cameron is spending his Valentine’s Day morning handing out 100 roses to locals on the Gold Coast.
 
The story of his heartwarming gesture emerged on Facebook on Tuesday, in a post that has since been shared 12,000 times.
 
Wedding videographer Lance Smith encountered Cameron at Nobby’s Beach on Saturday, and struck up a conversation with him after buying a copy of The Big Issue, which is sold on the streets by disadvantaged, homeless and marginalised people.
 
“In my time with Cameron I found out a little bit about him. His dad fell sick when he was in his 20s and was taken into permanent care leaving Cameron unable to afford the rent on his own,” Smith writes in his now-viral Facebook post. 

He had no intention of asking for payment, simply because he liked to see the “joy and smile” the roses would bring to people’s faces.

Smith, who said he was moved to tears by the idea, decided to chip in.
 
“I drove Cameron to Aldi and we bought 100 roses for $100. I bought 50 and he bought 50,” he writes. 
 
Cameron’s plan was to stand on a corner outside The Shack Superfood Cafe in Nobby’s Beach from 7:30am today, selling magazines and handing out roses.
 
“If you’re in the area (or close) I encourage you to head down to Nobbys Beach, say hello to Cameron and buy a Big Issue. He’s a beautiful human with a massive heart and A LOT of roses,” Smith’s post concludes.
 
Now that’s what you call spreading the love.
