Family left speechless by stranger's random act of kindness

A family has been left speechless by a stranger’s act of kindness in tribute to her late daughter.

Kyle Jauregui and his family members were collecting a cake they’d ordered for his sister Madison’s birthday when they discovered it had already been paid for.

In a note, signed by “McKenna’s Mom”, the generous stranger shared the heart-wrenching story behind her gesture.

“In honour of my daughter’s 10th birthday I have chosen your cake to pay for,” the letter, which Jauregui posted on Twitter, began.

“Each year I do this random act of kindness because I am unable to buy my daughter a cake of her own.

“Today is her big double digit birthday. Please enjoy your day.”

Enclosed in the letter was a ‘Random Act of Kindness’ card from MISSFoundation, a US organisation dedicated to supporting families who have experienced the death of a child.

It explained the mum’s gesture was a tribute to her daughter McKenna Jodell, who died in 2008 at nine months of age.

The MISSFoundation started its Kindness Project in 1996 as a way to help grieving families honour the memory of their child.

According to the group’s website, more than two million kind acts have been performed.

“There is nothing that eases the pain of our children's physical absence in our world,” a recent post on MISS Foundation’s Facebook page explains. 

“But to bring their love back, intentionally, through kindness is meaningful in its own way.”

The Jauregui family were touched by McKenna’s mum’s act of kindness.

“We just want to say thank you to McKenna's mom and wish McKenna a Happy Birthday,” Kyle Jauregui tweeted. 

“There's still good in this world.”
