Aussie magician tackled on stage during cruise ship performance

An Australian magician has been attacked on stage during a live performance on a cruise.

Ben Murphy had invited a woman on stage to help him perform a magic trick when the incident occurred on March 1.

In a video of the incident, we see Murphy place a folded playing card in the woman's mouth, one in his, and the pair then lean into each other until the cards touch.

The trick is that when the cards touch, they are also swapped.

Before the trick could be completed, moments after the pair leaned in and touched cards, a man stormed the stage and tackled Murphy, causing him to fall off his chair.

The woman can be seen holding her arms out to prevent the man from further attacking Murphy.

The man is yet to be identified.

Murphy shared footage of the incident on his social media accounts including TikTok

Murphy said he hit his head during the attack and was left with "blurry vision" and was attended by the medical team onboard including a neurologist.

In a subsequent video shared by the magician, we see the crowd boo the perpetrator as he leaves the auditorium before Murphy manages to complete his performance.

Murphy shared multiple videos of the incident on his social media channels. TikTok

Murphy's followers were quick to praise the magician for completing the show.

"If you finished the show, you deserve an award. It would take superhuman strength to be able to stay on stage after that," fellow magician Chris Herrick commented on Instagram.

To this Murphy responded: "Finished the show (25 minutes remained. And did 2 more shoes 4 nights later)."

"Dog ruined the damn magic trick, now I will never know what was supposed to happen," said one Instagram follower.

It is understood the incident is being investigated by authorities. Murphy has been contacted by 9Honey for comment.
