'Proud. Heartbroken. Grateful': Lauren Sanchez shares mixed emotions as she drops youngest son at university

Life is slowly returning to normal for Lauren Sanchez Bezos after her multibillion-dollar Venice wedding to Amazon boss Jeff Bezos.

But it's a new normal for the mum-of-three who shared her mixed emotions at dropping her youngest son off at college, saying she was both "heartbroken" and "proud".

The 55-year-old shared a photo of her rarely seen 18-year-old son, Evan Whitesell, on social media as he built furniture for his new dorm room.

"Dropped off Evan at college today," she wrote her Instagram Story.

"18 years of early mornings, late night snacks and family dinners.... and then there he was building his own dorm cabinet.

"A small thing but in that moment I saw the start of his next chapter.

"Proud. Heartbroken. Grateful."

Later, the mum in disbelief at her little boy being all grown up shared a flashback photo of her son at primary school.

"How did we just drop these two cuties off at the same college," she mused, labelling the kids "friends for life".

Sanchez, a TV reporter, shares son Evan and daughter Ella Whitesell, 17, with her ex-husband, businessman Patrick Whitesell. He has also since remarried, to Australian actress Pia Miller.

Sanchez has a 24-year-old son, Nikko Gonzalez, with her ex, American footballer Tony Gonzalez.

And now, after marrying Bezos, she's become step-mum to his 25-year-old son, Preston Bezos.
