AFL star Jeremy Finlayson's wife Kellie Finlayson has shared a moving and poignant post as she marked four years since being diagnosed with bowel cancer.

The author, who is living with stage 4 bowel cancer that metastasised in her lungs, was just 25 years old when she was diagnosed with bowel cancer in late 2021 shortly after welcoming her daughter Sophia.

This week, Kellie, now 29, shared a video on Instagram marking the milestone and a sweet tribute to her daughter as she penned an open letter to her 25-year-old self.

She captioned her post: "To 25 year old me.. This is a really weird anniversary to celebrate, but it's another year no one thought I'd see.

"I've lost a hell of a lot but wow, all that I've gained has blown me away. 4 whole years, can't wait to post about the 5th, what a privilege. 17.11.2021."

Just two weeks ago, she shared a candid video about spending Melbourne Cup day undergoing treatment for cancer.

She bravely shared a 'reality' clip of her day as someone living with a serious illness.

However, Finlayson was upbeat in her video, smiling and laughing as she danced to Taylor Swift's hit The Fate of Ophelia, with fans praising her for being so strong.

"Hahaha my Melb Cup Tuesday reality is so vastly different to what you'd expect or [for] a 20 something year old…. Wild," she captioned the post.

One follower wrote underneath: "Go girl ❤️ keep on vibing and helping us others going through the same thing. You're an inspiration stay strong."

Kellie was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, just three months after giving birth.

She discussed her diagnosis on Ant Middleton's Nova podcast Head Game, speaking about her chemotherapy treatment and just how hard it was.

"I lost a s--t ton of weight. I mean, I had a stoma, so I had a foreign object on my stomach," she said.

"I wasn't the normal mum that [my daughter] should have had, but I was as good as I possibly could be. It was hard.

"I was allergic to one of the strands of that chemotherapy, which is why, when I did relapse, I had to change chemotherapy, which meant I lost my hair.

"I was on my deathbed. I was getting anaphylactic reactions every three weeks to this chemotherapy. So I was essentially dying every three weeks, just to get better."
