Kailee Mills undid her seat belt seconds before a car accident claimed her life

The grieving parents of a US teen who died in a car accident seconds after undoing her seat belt are now raising awareness of the importance of buckling up.
 
Kailee Mills, 16, was travelling to a Halloween party with friends on October 28 2017 when she unclipped her seat belt and slid across the back seat of the car in order to take a selfie.
 
That split-second decision had fatal consequences. 
 
Moments after the photo was taken, the car went off the road and rolled. Mills was ejected and died instantly, just 450 metres from her family home in Houston, Texas.
