English rugby league star's wife says marriage is 'one trillion per cent finished' after video scandal: report

The wife of English rugby league star Joe Westerman has reportedly told pals their marriage is "one trillion per cent" over following a video sex scandal involving the athlete.

Footage allegedly showing Westerman performing an alleyway sex act on a friend's wife was shared on Twitter over the weekend, the footage reportedly sent to his wife Lauren, 33, before it was made public.

It is understood Lauren has left the Castleford Tigers star, 33, following the scandal, with a source telling The Sun: "He only has himself to blame."

The friend said Lauren is "numb" and that Westerman, with whom she shares three children, knows his marriage of nine years is over.

"There's no way you can come back after something so horrific," the friend reports Lauren as saying.

"It is one trillion per cent finished. What kind of example would I be setting to my children - particularly my girls - if I were to give it another go?" Lauren reportedly lamented.

"I want them to know that this is not alright, that it isn't acceptable behaviour in a relationship and that we all have self-worth."

The video shared over the weekend allegedly showed the Castleford player in a compromising position, with his pants around his ankles.

Replying to a tweet about the footage, Lauren wrote, "Can I make this VERY clear that this is NOT me.

"We have three children one of whom is almost 15 and she doesn't need to see things like this all over social media!"

Castleford subsequently investigated the incident and issued a "substantial" fine against Westerman.

Following the investigation, the athlete issued a statement.

"Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly apologise to my family and friends for my actions," he said.

"I'd also like to apologise to the supporters, sponsors, staff, and directors of Castleford Tigers as well as my teammates.

"I'd like to extend this apology to the game of rugby league, and I have realised that I need to work on my decision-making around alcohol."

Lauren remains in the couple's UK home in Castleford, West Yorkshire and is reportedly focused on their children.

Westerman has been spotted for the first time since the video emerged, attending training ahead of the Castleford Tigers' Super League game against Hull on Sunday.
