Transforming an unlikely area of the home could be key to solving your storage problem
A decluttering expert has revealed a surprising area of the home could help you get on top of your clutter problem.
Mr Carrington, a home hacks guru and TV presenter best known for the show Sort Your Life Out, has suggested the area above a door is just begging to be used.
"The ledge created by the door frame is a perfect spot to add a shelf, offering bonus storage for books or other decorative items, freeing up other areas in your room," he told The Express.

Adding a shelf to this spot doesn't have to involve getting out the tools, though – an adjustable shelf, which uses tension rods to stay in place will do the job, especially in a smaller room like the toilet.
But before you start installing a shelf, the door itself is a great place to use for extra storage, Mr Carrington said.
He suggests using over the door shoe racks and hanging wicker baskets to store accessories.
Another area the expert likes to add an extra shelf if above appliances in the kitchen.
This is something Kmart fans have been doing for a while now by making a storage unit with a three-tier storage caddy and a plank of wood. But you can also get storage units that slot over the top of appliances.
These three tips help make the most of the area you already have by turning dead space into storage using clever hacks and gadgets.

But before you go out and buy any new storage boxes, Mr Carrington suggested trying an item you might already have in the house.
"Picnic baskets make excellent storage containers. Use them throughout your home to store anything from socks, shoes, towels and even plates," he said.
"They're breathable and lightweight, and if you get a few in varying sizes, you can stack them to save even more space."
The expert's advice comes after a survey by cleaning brand Dr Beckmann found half of the people surveyed need more space to store their things.
