Six storage hacks to help you fit more into small bedrooms
Once we've added a bed to a small bedroom it can feel like there is barely any room to keep all our clothes and accessories.
It can be even trickier if there isn't a built-in wardrobe to store everything neatly and out of sight.
But by making some smart choices and simple tweaks you will find somewhere to put everything you need.
Skip side tables

It seems only natural to pop a bedside table next to a bed, but you don't actually have to.
Instead of a bedside table, if you have enough space next to it you can instead put dresser drawers.
That way you won't have to sacrifice floor and wall space on the side and opposite walls by doubling up your bedside table needs with a drawer containing your clothes.
You can add a lamp and anything else you keep by the bed on the top of the drawer.
Use the back of your door
Both the back of the bedroom door and closet doors, depending on the type of wardrobe you have, can be used for storage.
There are countless over the door storage units available in most stores these days allowing you to store shoes, scarves, coats and more.
Or simply add a hook or two over the door if you only need storage for a few things.

Look under the bed
You can solve most of your storage issues by choosing a bed with built-in storage but if you have a traditional bed then add it yourself.
Use underbed storage boxes, baskets and vacuum sealed bags to store whatever doesn't fit in wardrobes or drawers.
This kind of storage is particularly useful if you don't have room for dresser drawers or a small wardrobe.

Get hooked
Don't rule out hooks just because you can't screw into the wall – there are plenty of removable hooks out there.
Add hooks to the wall, inside wardrobes and the sides of drawers to hang jewellery, accessories and even charging cords.
You can also hang a basket or bag on hooks to keep other bits and pieces, or to hold the bags themselves.

In the pocket
Another option that allows you to save space on bedside tables is bed caddies, pockets and baskets that slide over the edge of your bed.
Keep your phone, a book and hand cream to save the space next to your bed for a lamp or other storage needs.

Shoe solution
Traditionally shoes are kept in the wardrobe but if you don't have much space there or in your bedroom, try keeping shoes by your front door.
This not only uses space efficiently, it gets you in the habit of talking shoes off when you get inside, something that will make your floors a lot cleaner.
